What is a Digital Nomad Visa?

The Digital Nomad Visa, also known as the Remote Worker Visa, is a UAE residence visa for employees of foreign companies, freelancers, or entrepreneurs planning to live in the Emirates. It is issued for 1 year with the possibility of renewal.

The Digital Nomad Visa grants the right to:

• Reside in the UAE for a year and renew the visa as needed
• Sponsor family members for UAE residency
• Obtain your Emirates ID and enjoy all resident beneuts: long-term housing, enrolling children in local schools, obtaining a SIM card, and resident discounts
• Open a resident bank account
• Gain tax resident status with no income, capital gains, dividends, or property taxes.

Eligibility Requirements

Besides standard documents like a valid passport (for at least six more months), paid fees, medical insurance, and photographs, some additional documents are required.

For Company Employees:

• A 1-year work contract. An employer's consent for remote work may be required.
• A recent monthly salary slip showing an income of at least 3,500 USD.
• Bank statements for the last 3 months.

For Entrepreneurs:

• Proof of company ownership for at least 1 year.
• Company bank statements for the last three months, showing a monthly income of at least 3,500 USD.

All documents must be translated and notarized. Remote document submission for this visa type is available.

Digital Nomad Visa Application Process

1. Submit an application

Apply on the official Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism website or ask our consultants for a faster, simplified process.

2. Send required documents

Submit the necessary documents listed above. Document packages will differ for company employees and entrepreneurs.

3. Pay the fee

Pay the visa fee or the fee for changing a tourist visa to a working visa (if you are currently in the vAE as a tourist).

Obtain your visa and Emirates ID. Visas are now electronic, so a physical visa sticker in the passport is not required.
